PVC vs Spiral High Speed Door Compared

PVC fabric or aluminum spiral high speed door? Size, wind load, insulation, speed and options of the two CUBIXY high speed doors compared.

Published By CUBIXY

The CUBIXY PVC High Speed Door and High Speed Spiral Door open at the same speed (0.8–2.0 m/s), close at the same speed (0.6–0.8 m/s) and have the same design service life (≥800,000 cycles). They differ in curtain construction, and with it in maximum size, design wind load and insulation: the PVC door has a PVC-coated fabric curtain, the spiral door has PU-filled aluminum alloy slats. This article compares the two using the values in the CUBIXY catalogue.

Curtain: PVC fabric or aluminum slats

The PVC high speed door curtain is PVC-coated fabric with an embedded high-strength fiber mesh, reinforced with polyethylene-coated polyester mesh strips and streamlined fiberglass profiles. It is offered in 0.8, 1.0 and 1.2 mm.

The high speed spiral door has double-sided aluminum alloy slats filled with polyurethane foam, guided in a non-contact spiral track. The slat options are ADI 25 (100 mm height, 1.2 mm), ADI 40 (120 mm height, 1.2 mm, or 220 mm height, 0.7 mm), ADI 60 and ADI 80 (220 mm height, 0.7 mm).

Size and installation

The spiral door covers larger openings: up to 8,000 × 10,000 mm, inside-mounted or side-mounted. The PVC door goes up to 6,000 × 6,000 mm and is side-mounted. The spiral door also offers four lift options: turbo lift, elliptical lift, flat lift and vertical lift.

Wind load and insulation

The spiral door is designed for wind loads of 1.0–3.5 kPa, the PVC door for 0.2–0.3 kPa; aluminum alloy wind-resistant ribs are an option on the PVC door. The spiral door's PU-filled slats give a thermal transmittance of 1–1.5 W/(m²·K), against 5.5–6.0 W/(m²·K) for the PVC door, and its watertightness and air permeability are class 2–3 against class 1–2.

Applications listed in the catalogue

  • PVC high speed door: logistics passages and high-traffic areas that need frequent access and strict cleanliness control; manufacturing workshops, warehouses and logistics centers.
  • High speed spiral door: busy openings that also need wind resistance and insulation; warehouses, logistics centers, manufacturing workshops, automotive facilities, underground garages and commercial buildings.

Options

  • PVC high speed door: 0.8 mm high-transparency PVC vision panel; aluminum alloy wind-resistant rib.
  • High speed spiral door: 0.8 / 1.0 mm galvanized steel hood; double-layer polycarbonate vision panel.

Frequently Asked Questions

Is the spiral high speed door faster than the PVC high speed door?
No. Both CUBIXY high speed doors open at 0.8–2.0 m/s and close at 0.6–0.8 m/s, with a design service life of ≥800,000 cycles.
Which high speed door covers larger openings?
The High Speed Spiral Door, up to 8,000 × 10,000 mm (width × height). The PVC High Speed Door goes up to 6,000 × 6,000 mm.
What design wind load and insulation do the two doors have?
The spiral door is designed for 1.0–3.5 kPa with a thermal transmittance of 1–1.5 W/(m²·K); the PVC door for 0.2–0.3 kPa with 5.5–6.0 W/(m²·K).
